Should an ear turn this color?

Seth was sitting at the kitchen table eating a snack and doing the pee wiggle. I think his wiggle took him a little too close to the edge of the chair and he fell off. Unfortunately, he caught himself with his ear. It looked like he had a purple grape on his ear. The picture doesn't really do it justice.
