(Fireman, Nicole and Micah, Seth, Misty and Paige, Thys, Cheryl and Kendall, Maryn and Amy, Allison and Ian, friends of Amy's and Fireman) We spent 2 hours at the firestation closest to our house this morning for a preschool field trip. We did the basic tour of the station, the sleeping quarters, the kitchen, and the fire pole. Sadly, they said that most stations are having the pole removed and they are definately not being put in new stations because of the hazard they impose. What's a firestation without a pole?

After the basic tour was complete and I thought we were on our way out they asked if we would like to see some more? Sure...why not. They must have been bored;) They got out the EMT equipment and used it on all of the kids. Then they let each kid try out the drivers seat. Then one the fireman (a local photographer) set up shots with kids holding the hose.

Then they got all suited up, had the kids stand around the corner, and the fireman/photographer crawled along the floor like he would in a real fire searching for the kids. The kids seemed a little freaked out by this but a little education can go a long way. After this I figured we were done. As we were getting ready to leave they asked if the kids would like to go out and spray the hose. Can you say no to that? They pulled the trucks out and let each of the kids use the hose, how cool is that!
Seth with the hose. Watch him when he thinks he might get wet...the panic. Whose child is he?
