Good Friend Award goes to...

Josh Potter :) In recognition of your ability to care for others, show kindness and be supportive of your classmates. First Grade 2008 - 2009 Mrs. Flanagan. (If you watch the video she gives him a little hug. I believe she is telling him to smile. At the beginning of the year when we had Parent-teacher conferences her only concern was that she couldn't tell if he was happy. I understood completely, if you ask him he always says yes. I believe it has been her mission this year to get him to be more exuberant!)

Today Josh's class performed The Three Nanny Goats play/musical for their parents. Josh was one of the nannygoats named Willie. He was a little bummed because he wanted to be the Grumpy Troll. I am sure he would have played this role perfectly, but the audience probably wouldn't have heard a word he said.

Afterwards their teacher gave out a variety of different awards to the students. That is an award that makes his mom proud. A little surprised because he seems like a shy kid but I have decided that he is not at all. Quiet, but not shy. He is very confident. He loves to try new things (especially without the rest of us tagging along). He is always one of the first to raise his hand at church when they ask a question or need a volunteer. He is perfectly comfortable with speaking in church. He loves to take stuff to school to show to his class. I was so proud of him at school when he was given this award.

Then we had a barbecue and picnic right outside of their classroom. I am so grateful for his teacher and all of the great activities she has planned throughout the year.
